Bank customers charged twice when taking money out of Bank of Ireland ATMs

The issue appears to have been caused by a technical glitch.

A NUMBER OF bank customers who withdrew money from Bank of Ireland ATMs on Tuesday were charged twice. 

Bank of Ireland confirmed that a number of non-Bank of Ireland customers who made withdrawals from Bank of Ireland ATMs on Tuesday had a duplicate debit on their account. 

The issue appears to have been caused by a technical glitch. 

“A number of non-Bank of Ireland customers who made a cash withdrawal at Bank of Ireland ATMs experienced a duplicate debit on their account,” a spokesperson said in a statement. 

“The issue that caused the error has been resolved.

We are working to rectify the duplication for those impacted so that their account balances are corrected as soon as possible. We would like to apologise for the inconvenience. 

Angry customers took to Twitter to vent their frustration when many people realised that they had been charged twice after withdrawing money from ATMs.
